About:

Our cover this time was designed and potato printed by Tennessee Williams. She is an illustrator and nail technician from South East London, whose intricate paper works are inspired by folklore and the natural world.

You can find more of her work at https://tennessee-williams.cargo.site/works-recent

Meera Manoj

Meera Manoj has contributed a unique and thought provoking piece about Malayali folklore and the trans experience. She is a writer from India, and has been published previously in Potted Purple Magazine and Hotpot Magazine.

Lizzie Bickerstaff

We are so excited to have the wonderful Lizzie Bickerstaff returning to Unquiet Press for this edition, with her Folklorist’s Manifesto. A fantastic friend of the press, you can find her work on Substack here – Lizzie Bickerstaff

E.S Northey

We have more folklore Substack royalty featured in this edition, thanks to E.S. Northey’s beautiful poem about the Cornish Bal Maidens. He is a writer and PhD researcher, whose fabulous writings about Cornish myth and folklore can be found here E.S. Northey, and our interview with Northey can also be found here.

Matt Bartlett and Bliss Ashley

We also have Matt Bartlett, an artist and writer from Somerset, whose works encompass sculpture, print, and 2d practices. His contribution was a collaboration with one of our co-founders Bliss Ashley, entitled The Moon, Two Dogs, and a Lobster.

Lillian Tagg

Our final contributer is Lillian Tagg, an artist trained at the Ruskin School of Art. Their piece for us combines their fascination with textiles and their anti-fascist beliefs, as in the dead of night Tagg and her family tear down the Far Right’s imposition of flags across South Essex.

Polyester, Lillian Tagg, Polyester flag, polyester thread, polyester wadding. 2m x 2m. 2026.
